Cyrus would love to help you turn your very own yarn into sweaters - for you & your family or to add value to your farm products at retail markets.
Yarns:
Yarns that work best in Cyrus' knitting machines are 2 ply lace, fingering, DK or light worsted weights. We generously estimate approximately 1 to 2 lbs of yarn per piece depending on the style & how the yarn is spun. While the whole garment knitting process is efficent & Cyrus works hard to reduce waste - there may be a 1 to 5% loss.
The yarn should be on cones; we can work with skeins but they add to processing time & cost.

Design:
You can work with Cyrus to design your own piece or have him knit one of our designs with yarn suitable for that style - some styles are knit best with woolen spun yarn, some are knit best with worsted spun yarns. If you like one of our designs we can let you know how to have your yarn spun for optimal performance for that style.
Pricing:
Free one hour initial consultation.
$75/hour design, calibration, & kntting time - if you want to design your own piece with Cyrus this could be substantial depending on the complexity of the design; if you use one of our designs this may be 2 - 5 hours to calibrate your yarn to our machine + approximately 1 hour per sweater for production depending on the style.
$35/hour hand finishing work - this usually averages approximatly 1 hour a sweater depending on the complexity of the design.
Number of pieces:
We don't want you to end up with sweaters that you wont sell or use so we don't require a minimum order - note however that calibration time & cost is the same for 1 sweater as for multiple sweaters.
We recommend starting with at least 50 pounds of raw wool for 20 or so sweaters depending on fiber & washing & spinning processes as well as size & style of sweaters.
The maximim order size we would be able to accomodate depends on the time of year - larger orders are more likely to be accomodated from January to April.
Timing:
Cyrus would be available to work with you on a new design from January to April. If you're using one of our designs we can start any time noting that it could take 3 - 5 weeks for calibration & production.
